Question: Hi Jason, I don't like it very much when my hairdresser uses a razor blade or hair scissors to thin her hair. Why does it make my hair so blurry? Can this be harmful? Thanks for the help and I love the hair tips column! -Vanessa

Jason Lee's answer: using a razor or hair shears on a client must be done with great care, experience and a well thought out plan on behalf of the hairdresser. Unfortunately, not all hair stylist understand the damage that can be done using tools like these. We will divide it first for those of you who may have never experienced the possible blow of shaving or scissors of texturing against innocent and unpretentious hair.

Some hairdressers will use a razor to cut hair instead of or in addition to using scissors, as they can create a very soft and light appearance for the client's hair. If done correctly, haircuts can be phenomenal for the individual and, in fact, many of the best hairdressers use razors to cut their clients' hair with great success.

If you have a very experienced stylist who knows your hair, you will most likely know how to use a razor and there is nothing to fear because before the cut, the stylist will determine if you are a good candidate for the razor technique. to shave.

Thinning Hair Shears

For tips on how to use thinning shears, learn more about texturising with thinning shears.

In general, it is a type of frizzy, dry, thin or curly hair in which the hair can appear more curly or blurry after using a razor because it can almost destroy the hair that causes even more blur.

In these cases, the use of a razor in the hair may be similar to the use of a silk blouse. So I suggest not doing it!

There are also thinning or texturizing shears. This tool is mainly used to remove most of the hair, however, it also helps create details to soften the hairstyle.

Scissors or pruning shears do not create the chaos of the razor, however, an inexperienced stylist can still hurt if not used properly. In this case, people with wavy or curly hair can use thinning scissors, however, the natural wave model will be modified.

This interruption of the wave pattern could be exactly what your stylist points to, but for better or worse, you should know that your curl will change to a certain level.

The razor, slimming or texture are all the techniques used in styling to get the style that you and your hairdresser hope to achieve together.

My advice to you is to never let a stylist get into your hair with any of these tools until you feel completely comfortable with your skills.

In addition, you should never feel bad about asking a stylist what the tools are and making sure they are really safe when they explain why they chose these specific tools to work.
